You may have heard this famous quote from Albert Einstein that says “If the bee disappeared off the face of the Earth, man would only have four years left to live.” I can’t say for sure what Albert Einstein really said but the quote in general is accurate: if bees disappear, we’re going to experience a lot of problems.

It’s no secret that we need the bees to keep pollinating all of the world’s plants as there would otherwise be a shortage of agricultural produce without them. Sadly, some bee populations are declining and if they were to die out completely, 50% of fruits and veggies wouldn’t be able to do what they’re supposed to. With less food to go around, prices will go up. This won’t be good for the economy.

First of all, this issue should be treated with the utmost urgency. Secondly, there are a few things we can do to help – like stop using pesticides and chemicals, grow flowers and foods so beehives have more to eat, and creating more habitat for them around the hive.

Yes, let’s do our part in helping these pollinizers! We’ll also be helping ourselves by providing food for the honey bees.
